Milan fans all over the world have been waiting for the second leg of the Europa League against Arsenal, and what a way to start. First minute, a beautiful cross from Suso found Andre Silva who almost scored the opener. Arsenal then found their form and started putting some pressure on Milan but Gigio and the boys were able to spoil all of Arsenal’s attacks.
Minute 30, 1-0 for Milan, Calhanoglu fired a stunning curling shot from outside the box which helped Milan capture the first lead of the game. However, two minutes later, the referee gave away an undeserved penalty after an embarrassing and pathetic dive from Welbeck which helped Arsenal get back on level terms. The next Milan attack, the referee also made a horrible decision and did not give Milan a deserved penalty. The unacceptable mistakes done by the officials defined the story of the first half and robbed Milan from a deserved lead.
The second half was a miserable scene for Milan fans after the frustration of the first half. Salute to the Curva Sud who supported Milan in their tough times and to the players who played a good game despite the result.
A mistake from Gigio helped Arsenal get the lead and suddenly Milan was hopeless after that. They tried to keep attacking as much as possible but the harm done by the referee was difficult to fix. Minute 86, Arsenal end Milan’s hopes and score a third goal. It is safe to say that Milan deserved more from the game but the mistakes of the first half really broke us. It is important to be tested in these kinds of games where luck is not on our side but we cannot keep looking back on this game. We are doing great in Serie A and hopefully, the boys can bounce back after this result. We can still turn this season around but concerning the game today, I believe the guys did a good job overall despite losing 3-1. Remember we are still trying to reach Champions league and we still have hope.
Forza Milan!
