Match Preview: Bologna vs AC Milan

The Rossoneri have had an intense week at Milanello. Following the unexpected defeat last Saturday against Benevento, the only thing on the Red and Blacks’ mind is coming back to winning ways. They will face Bologna at the Dall’Ara Stadium on Sunday at 3.00 PM. Here is the match preview:

AC MILAN’S FORM
The Rossoneri have failed to win in their last six league matches (4 draws and 2 losses) and have not found the back of the net more than once in these past meetings. Despite the lack of goals, the Red and Blacks have attempted the most shots from outside the box this campaign (279), whereas Bologna are 17th in this ranking (144). Besides, AC Milan are one of only three teams (along with Torino and Inter) that has not lost a game from a leading situation this term. Coach Gattuso is hoping his strikers step up: Patrick Cutrone, André Silva and Nikola Kalinic - who scored his first Serie A goal in September 2015 precisely against the Rossoblu.

OUR OPPONENTS’ FORM
Bologna have won four of their last seven home league games (1 draw and 2 defeats). However, their recent head-to-head record against us is not so positive. The Rossoblu have won only one of their last 16 league matches against AC Milan (4 draws and 11 defeats). Moreover, their last home win against the Rossoneri was back in 2002 – since then, the Red and Blacks have won eight times and drew three games at the Dall’Ara Stadium. Coach Donadoni’s side has scored 10 of their 37 goals this season from outside the box (27%) - the highest ratio in the competition.

TEAM NEWS
Lucas Biglia
suffered a severe lumber trauma due to an injury during the last match against Benevento. Together with Alessio Romagnoli (thigh injury) and Andrea Conti (knee injury), is one of the three Rossoneri sidelined for this match.

DANGERMEN
Simone Verdi is Bologna’s top scorer this season (8 goals) and has already found the back of the net against us in the reverse fixture (AC Milan 2-1 Bologna). Another big threat up front is Mattia Destro, although he has scored only one goal so far against AC Milan in his career (December 2013).
