For 20 years Milan and Adidas, the other great German brand, maintained a sponsorship agreement that they decided to break in October by mutual agreement.
After twenty years of relationship with Adidas, Milan will have a new sponsor from the 2018/2019 season. Puma, a German firm that also dresses Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund or Olympique Marseille, among others. Milan have officially confirmed that Puma will be their kit supplier from next season, after Adidas broke off their deal. The German sportswear brand activated a break clause in their 10-year deal, and their rivals have now stepped in to make the Rossoneri kits.
The club did not specify the duration of the contract or the amount of the operation with Puma. Bjorn Gulden, CEO of German firm, commented that “the Rossoneri shirt is one of the most emblematic of football”, while his counterpart at AC Milan, Marco Fassone, added that “Puma is an important international brand and we are going to advance together in the coming seasons, striving to reach new goals on and off the field. ”
As it describes the official site of AC Milan, the club joins an impressive roster of Puma football clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal FC. The Football Associations of Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Czech Republic and soon Senegal are also part of PUMA’s portfolio, as well as some of the world’s best players such as Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero, Cesc Fàbregas, Mario Balotelli, Hector Bellerin, Marco Reus, Julian Weigl, Gianluigi Buffon and Yaya Touré amongst others.
